Several years ago I acquired a framed slab of "picture sandstone". I painted dragons in flight on it. The work sold instantly. I realize in retrospect that I had under-priced it.
I have recently gotten several Mexican made tourist trade "beer coasters" made out of this natural red sandstone of Jurassic age. I have sanded the kitchy cactus and coyotes off of them. These things are small (9x9 cm). I have begun to paint tiny dragons on them. The idea is to match the natural colors of the stone closely to make the dragons appear to be part of the stone itself.
