It is finally official!
I have been hired by the Standing Rock Paleontological Program to be a field paleontologist in South Dakota this summer. I will be part of a team that is hunting and excavating dinosaur fossils in the Cretaceous Hell Creek Formation. The Standing Rock Sioux Reservation occupies much of north central South Dakota and part of adjacent North Dakota. This Lakota tribal land is larger than some countries in the world. Almost 20 years ago the famous T-Rex known as "Sue" was discovered on the neighboring Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation. The legal disputes that resulted from this discovery have been a game changer for the appreciation of paleontological resources on Native American lands.
The Standing Rock Paleontology Program is a pioneering effort to bring sense and stability to this situation. There is an ongoing excavation of an Edmontosaurs (duckbilled dinosaur) bone bed as well as far ranging survey work.
This means that I will be out of contact with my DA site for periods of time. My watchers will have to wait till September for more summer movie reviews. I have already booked several comic book shows in the Pacific Northwest, so when I return from the Great Plains I will be throwing myself into my artistic passions.

Long Time No See
This will be my first Journal Entry in over a year. 2020 may be a terrible year for the world, but 2019 was an annum horribilus for me. I have not posted anything on my DA page in a long time due to catastrophic medical and financial problems in my family life. I am only now beginning to get my affairs back in order so I can resume my creative endeavors. During this long interval I was able to accomplish two successful fossil collecting expeditions in the Badlands of Wyoming. I intend to post photographs from my excursions soon. I have also been stymied by DA's insistence on "improving" their posting format online. It is entirely opaque to me and has further discouraged my attempts to update my DA file. I really HATE the changes that DA has made to its format and appearance in the past year or so.
Devious Journal Entry
I HAVE RESUMED SALES ON MY ETSY ACCOUNT.

The Terror Review
The Terror
The AMC series “The Terror” will probably be considered to be a landmark TV series. It demonstrates that a sprawling adventure story can be accomplished using three sound stages and a lot of green screen. My first impression of the series is that it represents a major improvement over the book. It closes many plot holes and gathers loose threads that Dan Simmons left hanging. The series also treats the historical figures behind the true story of the Franklin Expedition with greater respect than the novel. Franklin and the other Royal Navy officers and men who perished in an effort to explore the Northwest Passage in
The Orville is not Wright
I just watched an episode of the Fox TV series "The Orville". It has simply got to be the worst SF series (comedy or otherwise) on television since "Home Boys From Outer Space". "The Orville" is an ego-generated vanity project from Seth MacFarlane who is best known as the creator of the long running primetime animated series "Family Guy". Promoted as a comedy by the network, this misfire is drearily unfunny.
The show is supposed to be a parody of "Star Trek" in the manner of "Galaxy Quest". It is more like a pale imitation of "Galaxy Quest". Like a Xerox of a Xerox it is a stale simulacrum. MacFarlane has trekked down this road before. W
