This Late Cretaceous ammonite is on display at the Natural History Museum at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. It is from the Pierre Shale Formation which is Maastrichtian in age. It has been polished to reveal the very intricate chamber suture pattern.
The specimen is about 30 cm in diameter.

I did see some specimens of Placenticeros ammonites at the Three River Rock and Fossil Museum near the Oldman river dam. They have found lots of ammonites near Cardston, Alberta and some of them of this species. A really beautiful specimen
