This was an unusually project for me. I took a resin cast figurine of the Egyptian cat god Bastet and added vulture-like wings. I sprayed painted the black resin first with "hammered bronze" for texture. Then I added a coat of gold paint Then I applied clear fixative to smooth out the joins. Over this I sprayed a second gold coat for depth. Finally I appied faux gold metallic leaf.

I have personally seen Egyptian statuary that had been gold leafed. I was able to replicate the look fairly closely.

Haha, I have that same resin statue. The wings are a marvelous touch! It's a really well done alteration. :)

I have to be forthcoming with the fact that I am altering found objects. Usually I take a large number of unrelated components and weld them together. In this case the alteration was so simple that the greatest change was in the form of the surface leafing.
