I just spent a week in the Hell Creek area of Montana collecting dinosaurs and other fossil creatures. My finger is on the clay layer just below the Z Coal that contains micro-tektites and fullerines that mark the Chixilub asteroid impact event that ended the reign of the dinosaurs 66.044 million years ago. The radiometric dates for this event are within plus or minus 50 thousand years. That is the blink of an eye in the realm of geologic deep time. This is the exact K/Pg boundary. There are dinosaur bones below this layer and none above.
