Welcome to the planet Angkor also known as Mekong 3 (no relation to the Dan Dare locality). Mekong is an orange K5 star. Its nearer companions M-1 and M-2 are hot gas giants. This view from M-3 shows each planet in opposite phase as each is at elongation 180 degrees from each other. Angkor once was the home to an ancient civilization now long dead. This world gets its name from the Khmer ruins in Cambodia now overgrown with tropical vegetation. Plant life on Angkor has red rather than green foliage. This photosynthesizes sunlight just as well as would our familiar verdure. One may assume that these structures were built during a period of lower sea level. Time will slowly erase all vestiges of the beings who built these ruins.
