Alternate Eocenes

This is a very early drawing I did of my conceptualization of intelligent dinosaurs. I did it in ballpoint pen in 1981. Oddly I have only returned to this subject matter and this medium after an interval of over 30 years. This depicts the same landscape in the Wind River Basin of Wyoming as it would have appeared in the Late Eocene. The top strip shows the familiar fauna of the Chadronian Land Mammal Age dominated by forms such as the brontothere Megacerops and the creodont Hyaenodon. The lower image is my hypothetical alternate world in which the K/T impact had never occurred. In this AU intelligent dinosuars had 25 additional million years in which to develop technology. By this time they had conqured gravity and were traveling to other star systems. By our own time, dinosuars would have spread throughout the Milky Way galaxy and colonized all other galaxies in the local Virgo Cluster.
